It’s been a good season, Brussels sprouts, and you will be sorely missed.
I don’t even know why you were still in the supermarket yesterday, but you were, in a sad, dwindling pile by the beansprouts. I bought you, I took you home and I cleaned you. I stir-fried you with pancetta, garlic and dried chili flakes. And then I ate you.
I probably could have gone easier on the salt, but you were still pretty damn good, Brussels sprouts.
See you again in September.

Try cabbage instead when Brussels sprouts are not in season. Tear (not cut) the leaves into smaller pieces. I like to top it with a dash of ground black pepper.LoMaTze added this comment on April 04 2008 at 8:24 am
